Our latest Press Release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEGOTIATING POWER FOR UNION LOCALS PROMISED BY NEW COMPUTER PROGRAM Lethbridge, Alberta. A new computer program promises to make records work better for union locals and their members. In welcoming the release of the package, Karen Neufeld, of the executive of CUPE Local 70, said, "This program gives a union local the bargaining power that comes with having all the information on any union business at your fingertips." Neufeld was one of the designers of the G-Track software package. She and the local president, Alex Radvanszky, asked for a program that would help them access all the information they needed to serve their members. The result is G-Track, a computer program designed to meet the specific needs of a union local, tracking grievances, seniority, job postings and correspondence. "We've been using it for four years and we're delighted with it," said Neufeld. "It does everything we asked and some other things besides. It's really helped us with some of our negotiations. We can get complete details on every item almost instantly. Getting some of that information would have meant going through files three and four inches thick." "The program saves us hundreds of hours every year, and it does some things we just couldn't do manually," said Radvanszky. "It's designed for people with no computer experience, yet it's a very powerful tool." The grievance tracking component has been one of the most valuable to CUPE Local 70, according to Neufeld. "Grievances are tracked by supervisor, article of the collective agreement and member as well as several other criteria." Many questions can be answered using the correspondence, job postings and collective agreement features of the software. Other features include meeting attendance and tracking member complaints. G-Track also tracks personal information such as birthdays, family information and home addresses to help in planning social events or maintaining member relations. A range of label formats can match any mailing needs. In an age when information is power, the winners are those who can organize and access their information to meet their needs. G-Track offers union locals a way to use their information for the success of their members. The complete program costs $995.
